Polar Plunge Coming To Northport's Crab Meadow Beach

It will mark the first-ever Polar Plunge in the Town of Huntington when people run into the frigid water this weekend.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Polar Plunge is set for Saturday in Northport, as the Special Olympics program will make its Town of Huntington debut.

Registration is set for 10 a.m., while the plunge is slated for 11:30 a.m. at Crab Meadow Beach. The beach is on Waterside Avenue.

Participants are tasked with running into the freezing waters of the Long Island Sound to raise funds and awareness for local Special Olympics athletes and programming, according to a news release.

The Polar Plunge is one of the most popular, profitable, and exciting fundraisers for Special Olympics New York. Participants raise money by asking friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances for donations.
