Police Log: Baby Girl Delivered Inside Home
Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Thursday, April 16
At 2:30 p.m., police reported a parking complaint of a vehicle that was parked and unoccupied in the middle of Fifth Avenue. The owner said the vehicle was being towed due to a transmission failure.
At 7:05 p.m., police reported forgery/fraud on Woodhull Place.

Friday, April 17
At 10:07 a.m., police reported a dispute in which an ex-employee refused to leave on Woodbine Avenue. Police said the his former employer is refusing to pay the $1,030 that is owed to him. The employer said he is only willing to pay back $720. Both parties came to an agreement that the employer would mail a bank check to the ex-employee. If the ex-employee doesn’t receive the payment owed to him, he should follow up in Third District Court, police said.

Saturday, April 18
At 3:27 a.m., police responded to an active childbirth at a Stanton Street home. Officers assisted the mother with the delivery of an infant baby girl. Chief Pansini from Northport Rescue arrived with a maternity kit and helped with the delivery. The baby was born at 3:40 a.m. After the baby’s umbilical cord was clamped and cut, the baby was swaddled in towels and was given oxygen, police said. The mother and child were then transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
At 3:46 p.m., police reported that a NPD employee was involved in a motor vehicle crash while on duty. He suffered neck and back pain and was transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
