Police Log: Child Locked in Car, Arrest for Sale of Narcotics

Monday, Aug. 24

At 2:01 p.m., police reported identity theft on Station Street in which someone tried to open a credit card amount in a resident’s name. Police said no money was stolen.

At 3:51 p.m., Jason Moodie, 18, of Huntington, was arrested after he was seen selling a controlled substance to another person for money on Woodbine Avenue, police said. He was charged with two counts of fifth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Tuesday, Aug. 25

At 5:24 a.m., police responded to a Dogwood Road location after receiving a call complaining about a man yelling on the caller’s porch. Further investigation revealed the complainant was calling from Huntington Hospital.

At 12:12 p.m., police helped a woman open her locked car with her child stuck inside on Burr Avenue. Police opened the vehicle with a tool with no apparent damage.

At 10:48 p.m., police arrested a 16-year-old Huntington boy for unlawful possession of marijuana and multiple traffic law violations after he was seen making an illegal U-turn on Main Street, speeding up Woodbine Avenue and rolling through a stop sign on Fifth Avenue.

At 11:54 p.m., Alan Becker, 25, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with third degree assault after police responded to a fight in progress on Main Street. Police said Becker punched a man in his face and nose. Northport Fire and Rescue took Becker to Huntington Hospital for his level of intoxication and treated him for his injuries.
