Police Log: Child Swallows Thumbtack, Plow Drivers Get into Dispute
Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.
Monday, Jan. 18
At 8:15 p.m. police received a report a child who swallowed a thumbtack on Oak Street. The young girl was taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
Tuesday, Jan. 19
4:03 p.m., police received a complaint of a vehicle on Main Street that was filled with garbage with someone possibly living in it. Officers arrived to the scene to find the car legally parked and unoccupied.
At 5:05 p.m., police reported criminal tampering in which someone threw eggs on a 2006 BMW on Bayview Avenue. The car owner told police he believes the car was egged because of an ongoing dispute over property.
At 8:06 p.m., police reported that a black car spun out and was in the middle of Fort Salonga Road. Officers arrived to the scene and could not locate the vehicle.
Saturday, Jan. 23
At 4:28 p.m., police reported a verbal dispute between a Village plow driver and a private contractor regarding where the Village was plowing the snow on Lisa Drive. Both parties agreed to not interfere with each other.
Sunday, Jan. 24
At 11:47 a.m., police received a report that a Doris Drive resident left the stove top burner on by accident. When the resident returned, she turned it off and opened all the doors and windows to air out the smell. No further action was needed.
