Police Log: DWI Arrest, Chair Lift Accident, IRS Scams

Sunday, May 19

At 12:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible burglary with people inside an Annetta Avenue home. Officers arrived to the scene to find the front door opened, although it didn’t appear to be damaged or forced open. Police conducted a search of the home and didn’t find anything out of place or damaged. The complainant told police he saw an unknown person walking on the property.

At 11:06 a.m., police received a report of someone receiving several phone calls related to an IRS scam on Seaview Terrace.

At 11:12 a.m., a 56-year-old Northport man was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on Soper Avenue after he violated an order of protection.

At 7:40 p.m., police received a report of a driver leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Main Street.

Wednesday, June 1

At 2:56 a.m., Diane Drago, 51, of Huntington Station, was charged with driving while intoxicated after she was pulled over on Fort Salonga Road for speeding and an unsafe lane change.

At 11:44 a.m., police reported a hazardous condition in which officers detected the odor of gas at an Ocean Avenue location. A National Grid employee named Jose was notified as well as the Northport Fire Department.

Thursday, June 2

At 1:56 a.m., police reported a loud party at a Burr Avenue home. The residents were interviewed and agreed to turn off the music and bring the guests inside for the night.

Saturday, June 4

At 12:31 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle driving with a person sitting on the hood on Main Street. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 8:10 p.m., a brother and sister were taken to the hospital after police found the sister stuck upside down between the stairs and a chair lift and the brother semi-conscious sprawled on the living room floor inside their Main Street home.
