Police Log: DWI Arrest, Fire Department Responds to Wrong Address

Thursday, July 16

At 9:39 a.m., police reported there was a kayaker in distress in Northport Harbor. Upon arrival, the subject was with the Huntington Harbor Master in good condition.

Friday, July 17

At 3:44 p.m., police received a report there was a fire at a boarded up home on Cairo Avenue. Officers responded and it was determined that the home did not exist and there was no fire in the area. At 4:27 p.m, the officers were notified the address was actually on Ciro Street in Elwood. Greenlawn Fire Department and SCPD were notified.

Sunday, July 19

At 7 p.m., police received a request to take an intoxicated male to the hospital for an alcohol overdose on Scudder Avenue. Northport Rescue transported him to Huntington Hospital.

At 9:16 p.m., police reported property damage in which residents heard a loud “boom” and noticed the bathroom window was broken. Officers believe the window broke due to possible thermal reasons or foundation settling.
