Police Log: Hit-and-Run, Drunk Man Screaming, Toddler Falls at Library

Tuesday, Jan. 26
At 1:15 p.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance on Woodbine Avenue. Police responded to the scene and located the man, who was lying in bed. The man was advised of the complaint and he said he was going to remain in bed for the remainder of the afternoon.

At 8 a.m., police reported a hit-and-run in a municipal lot on Constitution Square. A man told police a dark blue pickup truck backed up into the front of his parked vehicle and fled the lot without stopping or exchanging information.
At 11:30 a.m., police reported a hazardous condition in which two water main covers were missing on Seaview Avenue. Police placed cones over both covers until the water authority responded and replaced them.

At 11:49 p.m., police said someone found a black Kindle downtown on a park bench on Main Street. The Kindle owner was contacted and he picked up his property at police headquarters.
At 10:54 p.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man screaming on Woodbine Avenue. Police arrived to the scene and advised the man that he needed to keep quiet because he was disturbing the neighbors. No further action was required.
Saturday, Jan. 30
At 1:30 p.m., police received a report of a 2-year-old who fell and hit his head at the Northport Library on Laurel Avenue. Northport Rescue responded to the scene and took him to Huntington Hospital.
At 10:06 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious vehicle that was parked in front of a Fransal Court home. The caller said she saw someone walking around her vehicle. Police searched the area with negative results.
Sunday, Jan. 31
At 12:21 p.m., police received a report of ongoing problems between co-workers on Main Street. The man said his co-worker argues with him and pokes him for no known reason at work. The man was advised to contact his employer to settle the matter. No violation of the law had occurred, police said.
