Police Log: Drunken Man Waves Stolen American Flag, Unattended Pot Starts Oven Fire

Friday, July 3
At 6 p.m., police were notified that the complainant’s ex-wife did not drop off their son off at a custody exchange that was supposed to happen at police headquarters.
At 6:19 p.m., police responded to a man who was sitting unconscious in his vehicle on Woodbine Avenue. It was determined that the man was having a diabetic emergency. Northport Rescue responded and the patient refused medical attention.

Saturday, July 4
At 10:04 a.m., police responded to an oven fire on Hillside Place in which the homeowner said he left a simmering pot unattended and the contents began to burn. Northport Fire Department responded to the scene and ensured there was no active fire. There was no damage observed or reported by the homeowner.

At 6:16 p.m., police reported grand larceny in which there was a wallet and cash stolen from Einstein’s Attic on Main Street.
Sunday, July 5
At 1:25 a.m., police reported a disturbance in which an intoxicated man was yelling and waving a stolen American flag on Woodbine Avenue. The man was ordered to return the flag. It was determined that the man was intoxicated to the degree that he had no culpable mental state and it appeared that he made a bad decision based on how much he drank.
At 11:33 p.m., police reported that the Sewer Department retrieved a cell phone that fell down a storm water drain on Woodbine Avenue.
Monday, July 6
At 1:20 p.m., police issued a field appearance ticket in lieu of an arrest for a 25-year-old Northport woman after she was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
