Police Log: Juveniles Throw Rocks, Woman Gets Mysterious Notes

Wednesday, July 6
At 4:21 p.m., police received a report that an unknown person shaved a person’s cat and drugged it on Lewis Road. The woman told police she has no idea why anyone would hurt her cat since she gets along with everyone in her neighborhood.
At 11:25 p.m., police reported that a male who appeared intoxicated was lying in the bushes on Scudder Avenue. Officers transported the male home.

Tuesday, July 7
At 2:17 a.m., police arrested an 18-year-old Northport male and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana on Belknap Drive.

At 3:24 p.m., police responded to assist Northport Rescue with a water rescue by Hobart Beach. The aided was transferred from a Coast Guard vessel and then taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue for a left shoulder injury.
At 4:04 p.m., police received a report of identity theft in which an unknown person was attempting to file a tax return in the complainant’s name. The Internal Revenue Service was contacted and will be handling the investigation.
Wednesday, July 8
At 1:30 a.m., police issued a field appearance ticket for a 21-year-old Huntington man after he was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Laurel Road.
Thursday, July 9
At 5:17 p.m., police received a report of a burglary in which the complainant said someone entered her house without permission and stole a charm bracelet and a watch, which had an estimated value of $2,000, on Bayview Avenue. On Friday, the woman called police to say that she located the items.
Friday, July 10
At 5:55 p.m., police received a report of juveniles shouting and throwing rocks at people at Village Park. One juvenile was taken to Northport Police Headquarters to await arrival of his father.
Saturday, July 11
At 6:07 p.m., police reported petty larceny in which someone stole a skateboard from the front yard of a home on Duffy Court.
Sunday, July 12
At 11:37 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious note in the complainant’s mailbox on Willis Street. The complainant said she received numerous letters from someone named “Steve” who offered to do her yard work for free. The woman said she is alarmed by the notes and does not know who “Steve” is. Officers spoke to “Steve” who said he would cease and desist from communicating with the complainant.
