Police Log: Man Assaults Woman, Drug Arrests, DWI Arrests

Friday, April 29
At 7:37 p.m., Matthew Bankovich, 68, of Northport, was arrested for driving while intoxicated (combination of alcohol and drugs) after authorities pulled him over on Laurel Road for speeding and an unsafe lane change.

At 12:59 p.m., Alexander Valeri, 27, and Brian Garcia, 36, both of Commack, were arrested on Laurel Avenue and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree loitering.
Tuesday, May 3
At 3:34 p.m., a 51-year-old East Northport woman was arrested after police observed her driving a car on Main Street with a suspended registration and suspended license. After interviewing the woman, she was found to be in possession of marijuana. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration, expired insurance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Wednesday, May 4
At 8:29 p.m., Edward Dome, 41, of Centerport, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was pulled over on Fort Salonga Road for speeding and operating with tinted windows.
Thursday, May 5
At 12:15 a.m., Heather Ginsburg, 40, of Bay Shore, was arrested on Laurel Road and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
Friday, May 6
At 6:26 p.m., a 23-year-old Northport man was arrested on Dogwood Road after police responded to a call of a man under the influence who was stumbling in the street. Upon arrival, the man was found to be under the influence of a drug or narcotic other than alcohol.
Saturday, May 7
At 9:35 p.m., Derek Claudio, 46, of Northport, was arrested after police responded to a report of a man beating up a woman on Scudder Avenue. He was charged with third-degree assault (intent to physically injure.)
