Police Log: Men Argue Over Politics, Officers Pull Over Driver Reeking of Weed

Monday, April 11
At 1:36 p.m., a 17-year-old Lake Grove man was issued a field appearance ticket after police issued a traffic stop on Soper Avenue and could smell a strong odor of weed emanating from the man’s vehicle. The man was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, no/expired inspection certificate and no/expired insurance.

At 7:41 p.m., police received a report that a cherry tree on the west end of a municipal lot on Woodbine Avenue was damaged.
At 12:02 p.m., police received a report that two men got into a verbal argument over politics while at Country Bagels on Fort Salonga Road. Police arrived to the scene and a man told officers an unknown man with white hair entered the store and began yelling at him about his political views. The man said a similar argument occurred several months ago with the same white-haired man. Police told the man to contact police if he was confronted again.
