Police Log: Road Rage Incident, Landlord Violates Numerous Laws

Wednesday, Dec. 9
At 10:35 p.m., an 18-year-old Riverhead man was charged with littering in a public place after officers responded to a group of youths creating a disturbance on the dock on Constitution Square.

At 11:25 a.m., police reported a motor vehicle crash in which a car fled the scene in the King Kullen Shopping Center parking lot on Fort Salonga Road. Police said a vehicle collided with a 2013 Honda, causing damage to the rear passenger side panel, and drove away.
At 12:48 p.m., police reported a road rage incident in which a driver of a tan sedan beeped at another driver to go at a traffic light on Ocean Avenue. The complainant told police that the tan sedan, operated by a balding man wearing a Harley t-shirt, then followed him from Northport into Huntington.

At 10:10 p.m., a 23-year-old Hempstead man was arrested for fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, no/expired inspection certificate, equipment (rear license plate light) on Fort Salonga Road.
Friday, Dec. 11
At 8:45 a.m., a 23-year-old Greenlawn man was issued a field appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.
At 9:41 a.m., police reported that a landlord of a Scudder Avenue residence was refusing to repair a hot water heater. Officers arrived to the home and spoke with the tenant who said she hasn’t had heat or hot water for one week. The Northport Village Administratior was on the scene and said he would contact the landlord regarding these violations and the other numerous law violations he observed within the house. At 2:20 p.m., the homeowner told the Administrator all repairs would be done by the end of the day.
Saturday, Dec. 13
At 8:47 p.m., officers responded to the King Kullen Shopping Center on Fort Salonga Road for a report of an intoxicated male. Police spoke to the man who was preparing to drive his car. Officers convinced the man to call a taxi and no further action was required.
