Police Log: Woman Drives With Two Different License Plates, German Ship Enters Northport Harbor

Monday, June 22

At 10:22 p.m., police received a report that a woman was being followed from Wicks Road into Northport by a dark colored pickup with no bed. Officers did not locate the vehicle.

At 7:05 p.m., officers received a call from a concerned parent in California who said his ex-girlfriend might be drinking and driving with his children in the car. Officers determined that the mother was not intoxicated and the mother and children were at a friend’s house having dinner.

At 3:58 a.m., police arrested Joanna Contreras, 21, of Huntington, for speeding and for having two different license plates on Fort Salonga Road. Her vehicle was impounded and she was charged with multiple traffic infractions: speeding, expired inspection certificate, registration plate display violation, operating an unregistered motor vehicle on highway, no/expired insurance and operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver. The vehicle was released to a new owner with proof of ownership the next day.

At 9:54 a.m., police reported that an employee at Tim’s Shipwreck Diner arrived to work apparently high on drugs. The employee’s grandmother told police she suspects he took an unknown amount of her xanax pills and feels that he needs medical treatment. He was transported by NFD Rescue to Huntington Hospital.

Friday, June 26

At 1:58 p.m., police arrested a 21-year-old Northport man for fifth degree criminal possession of a control substance and unlawful possession of marijuana on Franklin Street.

Saturday, June 27

At 9:15 a.m., police reported a marine incident in which a vessel named Lucky was displaying the flag of Germany while in Northport Harbor. U.S. Customs were notified and reported the vessel had legally entered the United States.

At 12:38 p.m., police arrested Joshua Dickson, 27, of Apoka, for driving while intoxicated on Laurel Road. He was also charged with speeding.
