Properly Dispose of Unwanted Drugs at Elwood Public Library

The Shed the Meds event will be held next week.

Residents can safely dispose of expired or unwanted prescription drugs at the Elwood Public Library on Monday, Jan. 9.

Over-the-counter and prescription medications, including antibiotics and controlled substances, have reportedly been detected in drinking water supplies in a number of municipalities around the country.

This Shed the Meds program is an active step in preventing this issue in Suffolk County, said Legislator Steve Stern’s Office, who is organizing the event.
