FORT SALONGA, NY — Town of Huntington residents are calling for the township to protect Crab Meadow Beach from nearby development and the impacts it could cause the Fort Salonga beach, wshu Public Radio reported.

The town board accepted a community plan for protecting the salt marsh and its water quality, as the beach is one of the last few undeveloped salt marshes on the north shore of the Long Island Sound, according to wshu Public Radio. A variety of local wildlife lives there.
