Sand City Brewing Co. in Northport Named an Up-and-Coming Brewery in 2017

Attention beer enthusiasts: A brewing company in Northport was recently selected as one of the top "10 Breweries Primed to Breakout in 2017."

Sand City Brewing Co., located at 60 Main St., has made quite the impression since opening in 2015.

First We Feast, a publication that focuses on food, drink and pop culture, featured Sand City Brewing Co. alongside nine other breweries across the country that are expected to have a breakout year.

Here’s what the publication had to say about the local brewery:

Long Island has long been the redheaded stepchild of metro-area brewing, but that has started to change with the emergence of these guys out of Northport. 2016 was the year every dude you know from Lawn Guyland began pimping for them; 2017 will be the year everyone agrees, “You know, Mario was right!” The brewery has been canning i’s mostly hoppy offerings, like Fade to Jade, for the last few months, and now they’re starting to add stouts to the mix.

The article says Sand City’s specialty is Canned IPAs, but their tasting room also offers a variety beers by the pint or flight. Check out the beers available here.

According to their website, Sand City Brewing CO. is a tribute to the industrial era of Northport. Part of the Village was named “Sand City” in the late 1800s and early 1900s due to a number of sand mines in the area.
