The crisp air and shorter days mean something more than the start of school, it also brings life to Tiger football . The Tigers began their season in Bay Shore against the Marauders. The Tigers opening drive looked bleak. They fumbled on 2 consecutive plays and were very fortunate to recover both of them. Facing a 3rd and long Jack Hilregil took a handoff and raced 71 yards up the field untouched for a touchdown. The Tiger defense turned away the Marauders on their next possession and looked to confuse their opponents. Jacob Lubeck took the ball from Andrew Klis and ran up the middle of the field and headed to the end zone for another Tiger score. Heading in to the 2nd half the Tigers had already built a big lead and were looking to control the ball and the clock. Quarterbacking the team at this point was up to Ansel Mautz. He proved to be up to the task while the Tiger defense was taking control. This unit was led by Michael Petrucelly ,Andrew Cannales, and a ferocious wolf pack mentality that hit hard and hit often, yielding very little yardage. The Tigers' struck again in the 4th quarter. Jackson Campbell ran left, broke out of a pack and had one more defender to beat, running full speed Campbell stopped on a dime and cut back and made an unbelievable move to fake out the lone defender. Northport came away with a 25 - 7 victory and remain on the road for week 2, before their home opener week 3.
