Spots Open For Northport High School’s Early Childhood Program

Toddlers will be paired with a student taking the Family and Consumer Science class.

NORTHPORT, NY — Northport High School is conducting an early child education program called the Two-Year-Old Toddler Program, and there are still slots available for the 2019-20 school year, the district said.

In this program, each toddler is paired with a student from Northport’s Family and Consumer Science class, where students are studying toddler development. The classroom where the program is held is specially designed with learning tools and age-appropriate toys for toddlers.

The goal of the program is to introduce the children to a classroom environment, provide opportunity for them to learn to separate from their caregivers, and interact with their peers.

In order to qualify for this program, toddlers must be 2 years of age on or before Dec. 31, 2019, and families must be residents of the Northport-East Northport School District, and the students will have the ability to regularly attend the program, which is vital to the success of the program.

This class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:55 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. There is no cost for the program, and parents are responsible for their own transportation of their child.
