Suffolk Woman Drowns In Neighbor's Pool: Police
Carol-Jean Werkstell, 76, of Fort Salonga, was found dead in a backyard pool Wednesday evening, police said.
FORT SALONGA, NY — A woman drowned to death in a backyard pool in Fort Salonga on Wednesday evening.
At 6:10 p.m., a Truxton Lane resident called 911 to report a woman floating in his backyard pool, police said. When officers arrived, they found Carol-Jean Werkstell, 76, unresponsive in the water. Werkstell was brought to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, where she was pronounced dead.
Werkstell didn't live at the home where she drowned, police said. She lived across the street, according to police.
