'Sweetest' Willow And Zander: Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Willow and Zander, 6-month-old siblings, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week again.

"Born outside with their two siblings and their mom, they are the sweetest kittens around," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, said. "Their siblings and mom have since been adopted but Willow and Zander sadly still wait."

Willow, a girl, is the more confident of the two. She is a tortie. Her brother, Zander, has the softest black fur and is the more timid of the two, according to Wild.

"Our volunteers are head over heels for this pair of love bugs," Wild said. "They are both very calm and gentle kittens, missing out on their kittenhoods, growing up in our habitats."

Zander is shy, and when people come to meet him, he likes to observe. Willow likes to play. Zander depends on Willow for confidence.

"They are both sweet and affectionate cats, and, once they feel comfortable, will be the perfect pets," Wild said. "They have had several applications fall through and some for just one or the other. These two are very bonded and are waiting patiently for someone that wants them both. They have seen many of their friends come and go. We would love to see them get adopted together before the holidays."

Willow and Zander are spayed and neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

The Northport Cat Rescue Association is having an adoption event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday at Petco Commack, at 30 Veterans Memorial Highway, Commack.

"Please come down and meet Willow and Zander and many of their friends," Wild said. "We are hoping to empty the habitats before the holidays."
