Task Force Receives Grant to Battle Addiction Problem Among Northport's Youth

The $1,000 grant will be used to create specialized work and programs that are directed towards battling addiction.

The Northport-East Northport Drug & Alcohol Task Force recently received a $1,000 grant that will go towards battling drug addiction among kids in the Northport community.

The grant, provided by Northport Rotary, was presented to the Drug & Alcohol Task Force on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The Task Force said partnering with groups like the Northport Rotary makes a huge difference in getting their message across and possibly saving a life.

The Task Force held a presentation for the Rotary several months earlier to discuss how they could help the Northport community combat drug abuse. The presentation discussed educating parents, families and business and civic organizations on how to avoid and address the reasons why kids are turning to drugs.

The $1,000 will be used to create specialized work and programs that will fight the addiction issue in the community.

The following NDATF members accepted the grant: project coordinator Nicole Carey, chairman Anthony Ferrandino and public relations coordinator Scott Norcott.
