The Mighty Ducks; Asharoken Board Meeting

Hello and welcome to the Monday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 7am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

2. Movies on The Lawn - The Mighty Ducks: 8:30 p.m. at Dix Hills Park. This natural amphitheater setting (by the pool parking lot) will feature the Walt Disney Production of THE MIGHTY DUCKS (Rated PG) about a hotshot lawyer who is sentenced to community service coaching a pee-wee youth hockey team – the worst in the league. Will they skate on to victory? FREE.

3. Asharoken Board of Trustees Meeting: 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall. A draft of the agenda is available here.

4. Boating Safety Course: Instructors from the Neptune Power Squadron will conduct this 6-week course for boaters ages 10 and up. A fee of $55 for adults (ages 17+) or $50 for youth (ages 10-16) is payable at registration which is underway at the East Northport Library. Please bring a check or money order payable to Neptune Power Squadron. at 7 p.m.
