Walt Whitman Birthplace Now A National Literary Landmark
The Windmill at Stony Brook University where Tennessee Williams wrote, and Langston Hughes Community Library in Queens also hold designation

Walt Whitman Birthplace Association is now designated a United for Libraries’ National Literary Landmark. A dedication ceremony was held onsite on Friday, Sept. 5.
In holding this designation, the Walt Whitman Birthplace joins two other landmarks in the region: the Windmill at Stony Brook University where Tennessee Williams wrote one of his plays, and Langston Hughes Community Library in Queens.
