Prior to becoming a Nutritional Therapist, I had a standard checkup and blood work only to find out that I was pre- PRE diabetic. GASP!
Isn’t diabetes for Grandparents?!?
My Doctor at the time didn’t give me any advice or insight on as to WHY I had this issue, or HOW I could change my diet/ and or lifestyle.

Feeling instantly concerned and fearful for my health I began doing some research on my own.
At the time, I was already feeling as if I wanted to switch careers to something I could feel good about by helping others. Well, sure enough 3 months later I was enrolled in school again, for Nutritional Therapy.

This was going to be great! Not only could I learn how to straighten my own situation out but I could help so many others with question marks above their heads as well.
I learned so much about the direct effects of food on the body. All of my questions were being answered for me as each lesson came to an end.
While we are all bio-individual and should be treated as such, a few changes that I made that were very helpful to me were:
- Eliminating refined carbohydrates & sugars (at least keeping them to a minimum)
- I started snacking on healthy beneficial foods (guilt free) and began consistently eating three meals a day.
- Incorporating lots of healthy fats into my diet that at the time were new to me (coconut oil, ghee etc.)
- I began taking supplemental B vitamins for support as well.
Getting my blood sugar that is a major foundation in our body under control really changed my life for the better. I’m at a healthy weight, I’m nourishing my body, my nails looked great, my hair looked shinier and starting growing faster, my skin got a nice glow to it and I had energy I hadn’t felt in years!
These were things I had never realized could of used a bit of improving upon until they were improved!
This is one of the reasons building a relationship with a Nutritional Therapist is truly beneficial for you.
