Golfers who use wheelchairs are invited to go to a free clinic on how to use the Town's wheelchair-adaptive golf cart, taught by Tom Herzog.
NORTHPORT, NY—Golfers who use a wheelchair are invited to attend a free clinic on how to use the Town of Huntington's wheelchair-adaptive golf cart, or Paramobile.
The clinic will be presented by PGA professional Tom Herzog and is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crab Meadow Golf Course located at 220 Waterside Road, Northport.
Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci announced the clinic, welcoming all golfers to attend and learn how to use the golf cart.

“'The Paramobile at Crab Meadow Golf Course' provides for the enjoyment of the most beautiful 18-hole public golf course on Long Island, and this free clinic will help make sure our mobility-challenged golfers, residents and visitors get the most out of the great recreational facilities the Town has to offer," Lupinacci stated via press release.
Anyone who would like to use the Paramobile must attend a clinic or contact Herzog for a lesson before they're allowed to use the machine on the golf course.

The Long Island Chapter of the Stand Up and Play Foundation donated a Paramobile to the Town of Huntington in 2017.
The Paramobile enables golfers who use a wheelchair to be strapped in securely and then lifted to a standing position to swing the golf club from a natural stance. The release states the Paramobile was designed for people "with various neurological and muscular disabilities, including but not limited to, amputees, stroke victims, paraplegics, quadriplegics, individuals with war injuries, brain trauma, MS, CP and Parkinsons."
