Woman Killed After Husband Backs Car Into Her From Driveway

The woman had just finished walking their grandchild to the bus stop, police say.

FORT SALONGA, NY — A woman was killed after she was hit by a car being driven by her husband in Fort Salonga Monday morning, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

Nancy Richard, 79, was returning to her home on Concord Drive after walking her grandchild to the bus stop when she was hit by a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S550 driven by her husband, Peter Richard, who was backing out of their driveway around 7:30 a.m., police said.

Richard was brought to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Peter Richard, 83, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the crash.
