City Of Norwich Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) Plan Is In Development, Strategic Sites Discussed At Public Workshop (evesun.com) — Norwich has secured $180,000 from New York State to develop a Brownfield Opportunity Area plan that could unlock new funding and redevelopment for key city properties. Planners and residents just reviewed a long list of potential strategic sites, from Borden Avenue to Main Street, and the city will keep refining priorities and posting updates online as it pursues an official brownfield designation.
   

2. Volunteer-built Kiosk At Patsy's Riverview In Norwich Highlights Bird Migration Routes (evesun.com) — A new volunteer-built kiosk at Patsy's Riverview park in Norwich now helps visitors understand bird migration along the Chenango River while serving as a gateway to local river trails. Built largely by Bullthistle Hiking Club members for under $400 in lumber, the project expands amenities at the growing riverfront park and connects walkers to Greenway Park, Baker Dog Park, and future habitat improvements.
   

3. Chenango County DA's Office Secures Grand Jury Space At Eaton Center (evesun.com) — Chenango County has locked in five years of grand jury space at the Eaton Center in Norwich, ensuring jurors have a large, dedicated room starting in 2027. When court isn't in session, the 3,300-square-foot space can also host county meetings and trainings, with funding for the lease already built into the district attorney's budget plan.
   

4. Sabers blank Purple Tornado 3-0 in boys soccer (wbng.com) — Norwich soccer fans saw the Purple Tornado shut out 3-0 by Susquehanna Valley in Conklin, as the Sabers broke through late in the first half and added two more goals after the break. Norwich created chances but couldn't convert, including a deep effort from James Sprague, while the Sabers' Giano Lisi powered the offense with a long-range strike and key assist.
