16-Year-Old Now Faces Murder Charge in Spring Valley Assault, Robbery

Spring Valley, NY — A 16-year-old now faces a murder charge after Ruben Suchite Torres, who police said he assaulted and robbed, died Saturday.

Jiwan Coleman had been charged with attempted murder, according to lohud.com, but now a grand jury has brought him up on murder and robbery charges.

Police said Torres, 18, who died at Westchester Medical Center, was hit on the head with a rock while he was going home from his part-time job June 26, News12.com reported.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Dany Marroquin, a friend of Torres, to offset expenses.

Marroquin wrote on the page that there were no signs of possible recovery from the injuries so Torres’s father and sister decided to disconnect him from a ventilator.

As of midday Wednesday, $8,570 had been donated.
