2 Nyack Men Accused of Robbing Car Wash

Police say they received a call from someone who noticed the men and knew the Route 59 business was closed.

WEST NYACK, NY — Clarkstown police got a call Wednesday from a witness reporting suspicious people at the Route 59 Car Wash. It was 10 p.m. and the car wash was closed. Responding officers searched the building and found two men inside.

Both were taken into custody without incident. Police allege more than $400 of stolen money was recovered.

The men, John Carlos Veras, 21, of Nyack and Angel Gomez, 22, of Nyack were transported to police headquarters for processing. It was determined that Veras was a former employee of the car wash, police said.

Each was charged with burglary 3rd (felony), petit larceny (misdemeanor) and criminal possession of stolen property 5th (misdemeanor). Both were arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court.

Bail was set for Veras at $25,000 and for Gomez at $15,000. They were transported to Rockland County Jail. Both will return to court Friday.
