65-Year-Old Rockland Man Raped, Abused 15-Year-Old

A jury found him guilty on all counts.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A Rockland County jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts against a 65-year-old Haverstraw resident accused of raping and sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl over the course of more than two months in 2019.

Jimmie Moore was found guilty Monday on one count of Rape in the Third Degree (felony), Attempted Rape in the Third Degree (misdemeanor), and two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree (misdemeanor), Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced Wednesday.

Moore had been arrested after an investigation by the Haverstraw Police Department and Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit.

The trial began June 13 and concluded Monday. Moore was sent to Rockland County Jail to await sentencing on Sept 20.

"Protecting our children from these types of predators is a top priority for my office," Walsh said in the announcement. " I want to thank the Haverstraw Police Department who worked closely with Rockland County District Attorney's Office Special Victims Unit to ensure justice for the victim. We must now support the victim in this case as she deals with the trauma of this horrific crime."

The DA's office also commended the work of Supervising Assistant District Attorney Gerard M. Damiani III who prosecuted the case.
