NYACK, NY — A strange incident unfolded after a man showed up at the ER with stab wounds.
The Orangetown Police Department says that on Monday, around 10:10 p.m., Orangetown police officers responded to Nyack Hospital after receiving a report of the man who had walked in with stab wounds.
Investigators say a domestic incident had taken place at an apartment on Bridge Street, in Nyack, and the man had been stabbed by a woman.
When police responded to Bridge Street, the suspect barrricaded herself inside of an apartment, according to police.
Orangetown police requested the assistance of the Rockland County REACT/SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). The CNT attempted negotiations and the REACT/SWAT Team was able to enter the apartment.
The suspect, 44-year-old Fabiola Demosthenes, of Nyack, was arrested and charged with felony first-degree assault, and misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
She was arraigned by a judge in Nyack Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
Orangetown police thanked the Rockland County REACT and CNT, the Rockland County Sheriff's Department Drone Unit and BCI Unit, the Congers Community Ambulance Corps, and the Rockland County Paramedics for their help in the investigation.
