Bridge Work: Steel Girders and Road Deck Panels

Winter has not so far impeded progress on the new bridge across the Tappan Zee between Nyack and Tarrytown.

Tappan Zee Constructors LLC continues to place concrete road deck panels on the new bridge.

The work is occurring on top of recently-installed steel-blue girders, which continue to advance across the Hudson River. More than one-third of the massive beams have now been lifted into place, stretching more than a mile from the Rockland shoreline, according to New NY Bridge officials in the latest progress report.

The I Lift NY super-crane continues installing girders -- TZC plans to install approximately 100,000 tons of girders this year over the concrete piers.
