Broken Headlight Leads To Drug Arrest In Piermont

A North White Plains resident could face more charges.

PIERMONT, NY — A North White Plains woman faces drug charges in Piermont. Just before midnight Monday a patrolling officer saw a vehicle on Route 9W with a broken headlight. The officer stopped the car and talked to the driver, after which he conducted an investigation.

In the vehicle were bags of heroin, bags of marijuana, pipes, papers and hypodermic needles, said Piermont Police Chief Mike O'Shea.

The driver, Christina Carpenito, 23, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Additional charges are expected, the chief said.

She posted $100 bail after her arrest and arraignment. She is due back in Piermont Justice Court Sept. 27.
