Crash Leads To Drugged Driving Arrest In Upper Grandview

The driver is a 31-year-old Nanuet man, police said.

UPPER GRANDVIEW, NY — A Nanuet man faces charges in Orangetown court after a midmorning two-car crash in Upper Grandview.

Orangetown police called to the incident at 10:53 a.m. Sept. 28 on Route 9W found a Subaru with front-end damage and a Honda with rear-end damage. No one was injured, police said.

Police came to the conclusion that the operator of the Subaru was driving under the influence of drugs. He was identified as Andrew D. Murphy, 31.

Murphy was driving with a conditional license, police said, because he had a previous felony-level conviction for driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Orangetown police charged him with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony; and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

He was released on bail and is due in court Oct. 23.
