The head of the EMS officers union said many members have suffered PTSD after months on the pandemic front lines.
The head of New York City's EMS officers union says the death last week of one of its members at his home in Nyack was an apparent suicide due to post traumatic stress from the coronavirus pandemic, the New York Post reported.
Lt. Matthew Keene was found dead Friday by co-workers who became worried when he didn't show up to EMS Station 17 in the Bronx for his shift, the newspaper reported.
Vincent Variale, president of the EMS officers’ union, told the media outlet many of its members have experienced PTSD in the pandemic.
