WEST NYACK, NY — A two-day event, 9/11 Remember Reflect Education, will take place Oct. 2-3 in Germonds Park to mark the 20th anniversary and bring attention to the ongoing consequences for those still suffering from loss.

It's hosted by the Foley family of Rockland County, the 9/11 Education Foundation they set up, and the Town of Clarkstown. The event is aimed at honoring the heroes lost during and after that tragic day and promoting education, reflection, and remembrance around 9/11.

For the Foleys, it's been a double loss: Tommy Foley, a New York City firefighter, died when the towers fell. His brother Dan Foley, also in Rescue 3 at the FDNY, worked at ground zero for months afterward to find his brother's body and died in 2020 of 9/11-related cancer. You can meet Tommy and Danny on the 9/11 Foundation's website.

"We believe that all future generations should remember what occurred on that day, should hear the stories of those that were lost, and should understand the ongoing loss our country continues to endure because of September 11, 2001," the family said on the foundation website.
