Forest Rangers Help Rescue Injured Hiker On Bear Mountain

The incident happened Saturday.

BEAR MOUNTAIN, NY — Forest rangers with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation were called Saturday to help an injured hiker in Bear Mountain State Park in Rockland County.

Rangers Cowart, O’Connell, Russo, and Sweeney hiked in to the location, where park rangers and park police were already with a 42-year-old from Staten Island who had an ankle injury.

Rangers assisted with the carry-out using a wheeled litter.

The hiker was then taken by UTV to an ambulance at Seven Lakes Road.
