Today on the Judge Street Journal's Judgement Call, former candidates in the June 23 NY-17 Democratic primary John Sullivan and Peter Chatzky endorsed Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson in her bid to unseat Congressman Mike Lawler.

“What's at stake in NY-17 is clear. This is a race we can and must win,” said former FBI intelligence official John Sullivan. “This district deserves a representative who will stand up to extremism, protect Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid, and deliver real results for our community. Beth Davidson is that person. She is sharp, battle-tested, and ready to take on this fight, and I'm proud to throw my full support behind her. I'm asking everyone who has been part of this coalition to show up for Beth on June 23rd, because she will show up for all of us.”

Former mayor of Briarcliff Manor Peter Chatzky explained that "Beth Davidson has the elected experience, drive, temperament, and deep understanding of our district to represent NY-17 in Congress. She’s determined, committed and resilient, and she has proven she can build consensus to deliver real results. You don’t have to guess how Beth would perform in office — she’s already been stellar for years. I’m proud to support Beth for Congress. She’s my clear choice, no strings attached."

“I have gotten to know both John and Peter over the past year, and they are leaders of character who share many of the same priorities I do—from lowering healthcare costs to defending the rights of the LGBTQ+ community to protecting our immigrant communities from ICE’s brutality,” responded Davidson. “I am so grateful to have their support as we work hard to win this primary on June 23rd, flip NY-17 in November, and put Congress back to work for the people in January.”

Beth Davidson, a former Nyack School Board Vice President is currently a Rockland County Legislator. As a local elected official, Beth has worked on issues from gun safety to clean water, open-space preservation and tax relief. A cancer survivor and IVF mom, she has fought firsthand for affordable healthcare and understands the real costs families face. She and her husband, Jeff, moved 20 years ago to Nyack, where they are raising their two children.
