Grants for 3 Rockland Groups that Hire People with Disabilities

Putnam, Rockland and Westchester agencies are among those who received funding from New York state.

New York has distributed $2.4 million to 100 organizations that provide employment services to individuals with disabilities via the New York State Employment Services System, including agencies in Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.

It is part of the Governor’s Employment First Initiative to increase employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

“This funding continues New York’s legacy of inclusiveness by helping provide the necessary employment services to individuals with disabilities,” said Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a prepared statement. “This action is yet another example of our commitment to expanding opportunity to all New Yorkers.”

n Putnam County, a grant is going to Putnam Family & Community Services Inc. for $3,395.20.

In Rockland County, grants are going to Jawonio Inc., $30,228; the Workforce Investment Board of Rockland County Inc., $4,122.07; and the Rockland Psychiatric Center $4,285.08.

In Westchester County, grants are going to the Mental Health Association of Westchester County Inc., $9,152; Choice of New Rochelle Inc $9,536.80; Search for Change Inc $660.80; and the City of Yonkers Office of Workforce Development $45,250.33.
