Haverstraw Police Make Arrest In Main Street Shooting

Two men were wounded inside P&D Seafood in October. A 38-year-old Nanuet man has now been charged with attempted murder.

HAVERSTRAW, NY — Police have made an arrest in the October shooting on Main Street that left two men wounded.

On October 22, shortly after 2:30 a.m., the Haverstraw Town Police Department responded to a report of shots fired near 9 Main Street. Two men inside of P&D Seafood were wounded by gunfire.

On Wednesday, the Haverstraw Town Police Detective Bureau made an arrest in the case. Percy Ayers II, 38, of Nanuet is now charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of felony assault, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, according to officials.

The Haverstraw Town Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, the Rockland County District Attorney's Office, the Clarkstown Police Department and the NYPD.

Ayers was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and was remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility.
