Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for Piermont, Nyack

Heavy, sometimes freezing rain is expected overnight and tomorrow.

The National Weather Service has issued an alert for Rockland County:

Ice accumulation would be less than a tenth of an inch; but, there is a chance of ice jam flooding of rivers and streams due to the combination of snowmelt and rainfall.

The bright side? The storm won’t be bringing snow to us, though those poor souls in northern Vermont and New Hampshire, as well as central Maine, could get another 12 inches, according to accuweather.com.

“Well after midnight, we’ll see rain spread into the Hudson Valley. A few locations could see a very brief period of wet snow or sleet at the onset of the precipitation… but for the most part, this is a plain… cold rain for everyone,” says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “Rain could fall steadiest during the morning hours on Saturday… and begin to taper off during the early afternoon.”
