Homes For Heroes Veterans thank Rockland County Sports Hall of Fame for their generous donation. At their annual dinner, Homes For Heroes President John Murphy told those gathered about the affordable housing we were building for homeless Veterans. The proceeds of a raffle that night garnered $1200 for Homes For Heroes. Rockland County Sports Hall of Fame Chairman, Pete Scheibner, Chuck Maze, and Peter Castellano later came to the Homes For Heroes site to present the check to John Murphy.
The generosity of the Rockland County Sports Hall of Fame will assist Homes For Heroes in building rental apartments built for our honorably discharged, disabled and displaced, men and women Veterans. Phase I consists of 8 apartments built on the former Camp Shanks, in Tappan, N.Y., from which over 1.3 million GI’s left to fight in Europe during WWII. With 1 in 20 homeless in America being homeless Veterans, Phase II is underway to address the urgent need to house homeless Veterans permanently.
To help Homes for Heroes reach their goal of building more affordable rental apartments for Veterans, check donations can be mailed to Homes For Heroes, Inc., One Blue Hill Plaza, P.O. Box 1648, Pearl River, NY 10965 or credit card donations can be made via www.RocklandHomesForHeroes.Com. Please call Sarah Wade at 845-735-0515, if you have any further questions.
