ID Thieves Score Jewelry Theft in West Nyack

WEST NYACK, NY — At 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, the Clarkstown Police Department was called to Kay Jewelers in the Palisades Mall for a report of employee theft.

Responding officers interviewed a loss prevention employee who stated that one of their employees, Jerisha Hall, 22, of Nyack, NY had opened fraudulent lines of credit under names of victims of ID theft.

The fake identities were provided to her by a person known to Hall whom police are seeking.

Police allege Hall opened one line of credit in January using the identity of a 70-year-old man from Monroe, NY and a second line of credit using the identity of a 58-year-old woman from Montrose, NY.

Soon after the lines of credit were opened, the suspect who provided Hall with the identity information entered the store, approached Hall and purchased a total of $6,500 worth of jewelry, police said.

The investigation into the unknown suspect will continue but Jerisha Hall was arrested and charged with identity theft 1st (felony) and falsifying business records 1st (felony).

She was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $7,500. She was transported to Rockland County Jail and will return to court on Feb. 10.
