Nyack Businessman, Nonprofit to Receive Local Peace Award

The Fellowship of Reconciliation’s U.S. headquarters is located in Nyack. So every year, FOR honors people or groups involved in local social-justice work.

This year, the awards will be given to Herb Kurz, founder of Presidential Life Insurance Company in Nyack and a lifelong philanthropist; and the Nyack Center, for its community-building efforts.

FOR, an international interfaith movement, was founded in 1915.

The community is invited to the event, which is part of a Winter Solstice celebration and concert, 1-6 p.m. Dec. 14 at FOR’s national headquarters, Shadowcliff, 521 North Broadway in Nyack.
