Nyack Man Arrested after Thruway Traffic Stop

Clarkstown police allege the driver was drunk and the passenger was carrying drugs.

State Police report stopping a vehicle on I-87 for a traffic violation at 6:36 a.m. Feb. 27.

The driver of the vehicle, Gregory Dubuisson, 31, of Nyack, NY, was found to be intoxicated and driving on a suspended license. He was transported and processed at the state police office in Tarrytown, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.18 percent. He was subsequently charged with:

  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations

Dubuisson was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Clarkstown Court on March 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.

His passenger, Shantik T. Smith, 35, of Bronx, NY, was found to be in possession of crack-cocaine, MDMA, and marijuana. He was transported and processed in Tarrytown, where he was subsequently charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree; a Class D Felony (Crack-Cocaine)
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor (MDMA)
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation

Smith was arraigned before the Town of Clarkstown Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail.
