Nyack Schools Calendar 2015-16

The new school year begins in 15 days. Here are dates you need to know.

You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Nyack school district.

First day of school: Sept. 2

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14, 15

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Election Day, Superintendent Conference Day: Nov. 3

Veterans Day (no school): Nov. 11

Half day: Nov. 25

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 26-27

Holiday recess: Dec. 24-Jan. 1 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Midwinter recess (school closed): Feb. 15-19

Superintendent’s Conference Day (school closed): March 11

Spring recess #1: March 25-28

Spring recess #2: April 25-29

Memorial Day (school closed): May 30

Regents Exams: June 14-22

Half day: June 22-24

Last day of school: June 24

SNOW DAYS: Five snow days are built into the school calendar in the event that schools must be closed for bad weather. If closings exceed five days before Spring recess, Friday, April 29 and Thursday, April 28 will be used in that order as school days. Additional vacation time may be created at the end of May if snow days are not used.
