Nyack's Edward Hopper House Names New Executive Director
The Edward Hopper House Art Center has appointed Dr. Jennifer Patton as its new executive director.

Nyack, NY—Dr. Jennifer Patton has been appointed executive director of the Edward Hopper House Art Center in Nyack, NY. An educator and museum specialist, Dr. Patton will lead the center as it celebrates the legacy of Edward Hopper, America’s foremost realist painter (1882-1967).
Dr. Patton, who was Director of Education at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, NY, succeeds Victoria Hertz, who will return to the Hopper House Board of Trustees.

Dr. Patton, who holds a Doctorate In Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and has held various positions in museums, believes that “the arts are essential to critical thinking, community building, innovation and literacy.” She expects to motivate an interested public in understanding Hopper, who “brings illustrations to everyday life.”
"I congratulate Dr. Jennifer Patton on her appointment to serve as executive director of the Edward Hopper House Art Center,” said Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester). “Her experience makes her an excellent choice to educate the community on the legacy of Edward Hopper. I know that under her leadership, visitors from throughout the Lower Hudson Valley will develop a deep appreciation for the numerous contributions Edward Hopper made to American art,” he noted.

Continuing fascination with Hopper, who was born and raised in Nyack and whose artistic vision was in part informed by the magical light that emanates from the Hudson River, is bringing an increasing number of visitors to 82 N. Broadway, the Hopper family home. Early works and memorabilia are on exhibit in the Sanborn Room, and changing exhibitions of work by modern and contemporary artists occur throughout the year under the curation of Carole Perry, Artistic Director.
In welcoming the new executive director, Dr. Mary Anne Evangelist, president of the Hopper House Board of Trustees, said, “Dr. Patton has the talent and expertise needed to capably preserve the historic legacy of Hopper House while leading us into a future filled with possibilities. We are delighted to welcome her!"
