Nyacks Historical Society Hosts Spring Fling At Marydell

Founding members Win and Betty Perry are the honorees.

NYACK, NY — The Historical Society of the Nyacks will hold its Spring Benefit honoring Win and Betty Perry with a Lifetime Achievement Award on Friday, June 10 from 5-8p at Marydell Faith and Life Center, 640 N. Midland Avenue in Upper Nyack.

An evening of fun is planned under the influence of a waxing strawberry moon and nearby Hook Mountain. A picnic BBQ-buffet and beverages will be served beneath a tent or under open skies at picnic tables, rain, or shine. Music and a special history tour of Marydell’s 98-year-old camp will be featured.

A tribute to Win and Betty Perry will be made by Mike Hays, President Historical Society of the Nyacks, Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, NYS Senator, Karen Tarapata, Village of Upper Nyack Mayor, and Don Hammond, Village of Nyack Mayor followed by the presentation of the society’s Lifetime Achievement Award for the many years of community service the Perrys have given to the Nyacks.

The Perrys were instrumental in forming the Historical Society of the Nyacks in 1994 along with its first president, Florence Katzenstein. From the beginning, the non-profit organization has been dedicated to researching, preserving, and fostering appreciation of the history of the Nyack community. All are welcome.

Registration for the event may be made at the society’s website, by mail, or by phone. Tickets cost $100. All proceeds will benefit the Historical Society of the Nyacks’ ongoing programs including historical exhibits at their museum, walking tours, and newsletters.
