Barbara Jean Wassmann, nee Prikkel, of Pomona, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. She was 72. Born March 23, 1941, to Robert and Alice Prikkel of the Bronx, she was raised at 184th St. and Valentine Avenue. Barbara was a pioneering member of the Peace Corps, joining in 1963 and serving in Liberia for two years.  She spent most of her adult life with Time Warner as Associate Business Manager, People Magazine. Retiring in 2000, she split her time between her summer home in Speculator, NY and her winter home in Pomona. She is survived by two brothers, Robert Prikkel, of Rome, GA, and Dennis Prikkel of Rolling Meadows, Il. Visitation will be held at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, Thursday 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the New Hempstead Road Presbyterian Church, New City, at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
