Temperatures in Piermont and Nyack will actually be below average, but we don't care and here's why.
Temperatures this week will be a degree or two below average for this time of year across the Hudson Valley.
So why are we happy?
“We’ve seen things that Hudson Valley residents have never seen before, this winter. So when we get some sunshine and temps into the 40s, it’s practically cause for celebration,” said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “The ‘warmth’ is here for the next several days.”

Take, for example, the last two weeks, when temperatures were about 13°F to 20°F below average.
“The cold we’ve seen across our area borders on the ridiculous,” HVW said.

The bottom line: “Although this is not expected to be a significant warmup for the Northeast, the mild air will still eat away at the snow pack covering the ground,” said Accuweather.com Meteorologist Brian Lada.
Here’s this week’s forecast for Rockland County from the National Weather Service:
- Tuesday-Partly sunny in the morning...then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 40s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
- Tuesday Night-Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain. Lows in the mid 30s. South winds around 5 mph...becoming west after midnight.
- Wednesday-Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
- Wednesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 30s.
- Thursday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
- Thursday Night-Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 20s.
- Friday-Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.
- Friday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow. Lows around 30. Chance of snow 40 percent.
- Saturday-Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow in the morning...then a chance of rain and snow in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 40s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
- Saturday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow in the evening...then a chance of snow after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
- Sunday-Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.
